Fearing God

Just recently we were encouraged and taught by our pastor about the subject of Fearing the Lord. What does fearing the Lord mean? Do we truly fear the Lord today? In ENCORE, the Sunday night discipleship ministry, discussed the subject of fearing the Lord.  The question was raised, "what does fearing the Lord mean?" After a period of discussion we came to understand very simply that the fear of the Lord is to acknowledge that God is God and not us. The fear of the Lord means we respond to God out of reverence because He is a Holy and Unchanging God. The fear of the Lord means God is awesome in all His attributes, His power, His majesty, His Love, His forgiveness, His wrath, yes, even His wrath.

As we continue to prepare mentally, emotionally, and spiritually for this trip, please pray that our team will consistently be aware that God desires people, even Guatemalans, to fear Him. One way for them to come to this understanding is to see followers of Christ live out their fear. To God be the Glory!
