Day One

After a delicious breakfast prepared by Guatemalan women, the team traveled to Antigua to participate in morning worship with Iglesia del Camino. A bilingual service is provided for the community due to number of congregants who speak Spanish and English. A photo captures the worship band leading songs of praise not for people to enjoy, but to give God adoration for his unfailing and amazing love. The guest pastor, Mark, presented a challenge from God's word concerning the importance of evangelism. Mark's timely message was an encouragement to the various teams (Canada, Kentucky, New York, and Texas) that will be ministering this week. What a moving time to worship with 350 people from various parts of our world with the sole purpose of magnifying and glorifying the name of Jesus.

After lunch, we took a couple of hours to visit a local ruin and a Catholic church in Antigua. The church has a rich history that dates back to the 1500's.

A particular saint, that is buried in the church, is recognized for providing healing to thousands of people, Hermano San Pedro. Articles, letters, signs, and pictures are displayed from people all over Guatemala and the world as an act of gratitude for the healing work of Hermano San Pedro. A thought revealed during the tour was that man was worshiped above God. This was even more evident by the many people praying at the foot of Hermano San Pedro's tomb. It seems what many are truly missing is True Healing that is found only in Christ.

This evening we will be preparing for our visits to Joy-Filled Homes (special needs orphanage), Santa Maria de Jesus, and Rio Bravo. Our visits to these locations will consist of sharing God's life-changing message through drama and songs. Please pray that we will be attentive to God's leading as we share and interact with children and adults. Thank you all for your constant prayers.
